So I forgot about this until just now, but on my recent trip I saw a legit Rotel Bus on its way to Lake Powell; I had never seen one before and I didn’t think I ever would. It was on the road so I didn’t have time to take a picture but here is what they look like.
Rotel = Rolling Hotel, and that’s exactly what it is. Each of those little windows is a tiny little “suite”
They’ve been in business since 1959 basically serving the function of a cruise ship for the land, only serving more adventurous locales.
They were doing Indian Tours as early as 1962
They can either be standard pusher buses, trailers, or more capable vehicles like so.
I didn’t even know they were operating in the US, but there you go! A little pricey but a unique way to travel...could be fun!

Add some Velveeta and you’ve got a winner.

Imagine being in a slot 15 feet out behind the back axle and trying to sleep and not being bounced up and hitting the ceiling. Pass.

I suspect they are stopped for sleeping.

I had no idea that those existed. Thank you.

What’s going on here?

They do an awful lot of these tours, including one from Santiago de Chile bis Feuerland, which after a moment’s thought I realised was the translation of Tierra del Fuego. That’s a long and difficult way.

yeah, I think they take their time though so it wouldn’t be miserable.

Preach.
I bleed queso. I need it. I must have it to survive.

There’s a club band here in Austin called Rotel and the Hot Tomatoes. No, really.

I don’t know, but they both look damned happy about it.

We saw one of these bad boys in Namibia last year. It looked impressive and oppressive at the same time.

I bet they have a creamy sound with just a little kick.

I have a friend who used to play trumpet for them. True story.

Suspension exists, you know, I’m sure they think of these things.

Are you being sarcastic ?

Looks kind of sardine-ish. And it could get very stuffy.

That trip through India makes a stop in Baghdad; I bet they don’t any more.

The first part yes, but I am serious about the second part. I am sure they thought of something to soften the ride, whether it’s suspension or cushions or something
